See You Later: Celebrating the Life of Roderick Hill
Roderick Alan Hill entered this world on August 17th, 1959, in Yulee, Florida, with a spirit as bright as the Florida sun. His early education took him to Philadelphia where he graduated with his Diploma from Dobbins High School Class of 1977.

Post graduation he became a father and welcomed his first born son Jarrod into the world. For 10 years he worked proudly at the Philadelphia Gas Works before following his true calling for traveling; driving GreyHound buses. While working a route he met his soon to be wife Doreen,
moved to Canada, and shortly after welcomed his beloved daughter Chantal. Two years later his family grew with the arrival of his third child Jamere.

Missing the sunshine state and warm weather his family packed up and moved back home; Jacksonville, Florida. He continued his career with Greyhound while also becoming a Mason. Throughout the journey of life Roderick experienced the journey of love, family, and friends.

As life unfolded, Roderick experienced changes in location, career, and love. He found comfort in settling near family in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2020 he started working for the Charlotte Area Transit System until January 2024. If you knew him you know he loved his family;
especially his grandkids,.. of course the Philadelphia Eagles, fishing, eating seafood, and playing spades. He was affectionately known as Rod, Roger, Khalif, Rod Pots, but his favorite was Pop Pop.

Proceeding him in death is his grandfather Fred Stukes, his mother Jo Hazel Friday, his stepfather Roy Friday, brother Keith Friday, grandmother Ruth Stukes, and sister Nicole Friday Randall.

He is lovingly remembered by his three children; Jarrod Hill (Mercedes), Chantal Hill, Jamere Hill (Stephanie), two brothers; Derrick Friday, Rory Friday (Darlene), one sister; Kecia Friday(Abdul), four granddaughters; Taylor Hill, Quinn Hill, Jade Hill, Joie Hill, three grandsons; Khalif
Jay, Amari Moore, Justice Hill, six nephews; Sean, Earl “Jahmiek”, Andrew, Jahrell, Joseph, 12 nieces; Sheree, Leilani, Leondra, Dawn, Renata, Chanel, Tiffany, Tiesha, Zaakirah, Nigeria, Nairobi, Lynayah, 37 great nieces and nephews, 10 great great nieces and nephews, three aunts; Pauline Hicks (Thaxter), Joyce Downing (Lorenzo), Patricia Cribb (Leon), two uncles; Lawrence Williams (Sandy) and Isaac Small, and a host of cousins and friends.
