Rodger Williams

Mr. Roger Williams passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 25th 2018 at 10:18 a.m. in Charlotte North Carolina. Roger was the Beloved husband of Roberta J. Ashley Williams. Mr. Williams was born May 12, 1942 parents the late Arthur and Lucy S. Williams and Rochester New York. He graduated from James Madison High in 1959, was employed at Eastman Kodak company for many years, and at Xerox Corporation where he retired after 30 years in 1995.

Two years after retirement Roger relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina with Roberta. Roger married his longtime companion Roberta of 27 years in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada 1995.

Roger was preceded in death by his four Brothers: John Williams, Arthur Williams, Charles Williams, Bobby Williams and one Sister Gloria Lesure.

Roger never met a stranger and was always looking to have fun; he enjoyed music and dancing, and was also an avid golfer. He held memberships in the Elks Lodge, traveling wedges and Manhattan Golf Club of Rochester, New York as well as participated in the annual Upstate New York cookout held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Roger travel extensively playing in numerous golf tournaments having won first place and various other trophies and prizes. Roger stayed active up until his illness in 2017.

Roger was a lifetime member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Rochester, New York where he was baptized in an early age. He also attended Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Charlotte, North Carolina.

He is survived by his Wife Roberta J. Ashley Williams, One Son Roger Williams, Jr. And one Daughter Cindy Williams, Rochester, New York, three Stepsons: Jamar, Chivous and Colin Logan all of Charlotte, North Carolina: one Step Daughter Tawan Logan of Charlotte North Carolina: two Sisters Betty Wyatt and Joanne Davis, two Brothers James Williams and Walter Williams all of Rochester, New York, five Grandchildren: Danielle (Derial) Young of Ohio, Eugene (Fitz) Lawton of Fort Bragg North Carolina, Jania Lawton of Rochester New York, Karma Jasmine Beckley and Alexis Beckley all of Rochester New York, six Step-grandchildren: Shayla Bolden, Jalen Johnson, Chance Logan, Carlos Logan, William Roan and Jasmine Gaskin all of Charlotte North Carolina, nine Great-grandchildren and a host of Relatives and Friends. He also leaves behind his adored dog Tina.
