Rosa Mae Gaddy, the daughter of the late Webster Barber and Rena Porter, was born on August 29, 1928 in Lancaster County, SC. She departed to her home in glory the morning of October 11, 2022.
Rosa was educated in Mecklenburg County schools and later employed with Mecklenburg County’s Homemaking Education Department and later with the Charlotte Area Fund. In those roles she led reupholstery and nutrition workshops. Mrs Gaddy was known for her cooking skills, and her reupholstery segments on the local WBTV television program, "Top of the Day". She was also a member of the order of the Eastern Star as well as other volunteer organizations and projects around the Charlotte area.
Rosa attended Myers Tabernacle AME Zion Church for many years where she was a missionary, deaconess, and a member of the hymn choir. She would later join Rockwell AME Zion Church, where she faithfully attended church services, until her health would not allow her to.
She was preceded in death by her husband, local entrepreneur and gospel singer, Louis Gaddy. She leaves behind two sons; Larry Gaddy and Eric Gaddy, as well as a daughter, Sandra G. Watson; Son-in-law; Carl Watson, three grandchildren; Jeffrey Gaddy, Eric Gaddy Jr., and Samantha Watson; one great granddaughter; Anaree Gaddy and two sisters; Esterlene "Big Sister" Fisher and Florence Porter.
