Rosa Lee Marsh Robinson, a beloved Matriarch, cherished Centenarian and Mother of the Church peacefully transitioned from this life on April 28, 2026 at her home at 103 years old. Rosa was born March 11, 1923 in Marshville, North Carolina, being the fifth of eleven children born to the late Reverend John Hurley Marsh and Mrs. Emma Jessie Huntley Marsh. She was raised in a large, loving family that instilled in her the values of faith, resilience, and service that she carried throughout her life.
Rosa received her early education in the Union County Public School System. She graduated from Winchester High School in Monroe, North Carolina. She later attended Winston-Salem State University before completing her collegiate studies in Washington, D.C., where she earned her nursing credentials from the Washington, D.C. School of Nursing. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), dedicating herself to the care and well-being of others with compassion and professionalism.
A devoted woman of God, Rosa lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love. She was a servant leader in her church and attended Sunday school faithfully. She was a dedicated member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where she actively served in Missionary Groups Two and Three; Secretary of Senior Class Sunday School Number Two; Member of Nurses’ Auxiliary Ministry; Volunteer for Loaves and Fishes Ministry; Rosa’s commitment to ministry and helping others were mirrored in her active participation.
Rosa loved serving her community as exhibited in her lifelong commitment to service, sisterhood and community empowerment. She was a Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Golden Hue Chapter, Number Fifteen; Member of the National Council of Negro Women; Chairperson of the Friendly Fourteen Savings Club; Volunteer for Voter Precinct Number Fifty-three; Democratic Judge for Voter Precinct Number Fifty-three.
Rosa was a loving Wife, Godmother, Sister, Aunt and a Humanitarian within her community, always extending kindness and support to those in need. She was united in marriage to the late Henderson Robinson and together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and. commitment.
Rosa had many talents and passions that brought joy to her life and to others. She was an exceptional seamstress, took great pride in gardening, and earned her cosmetology license. She would periodically work at her sister’s hair salon, D’ Essence, where she shared her skills and warm spirit with others.
Rosa leaves to cherish her memory: one beloved sister, Delphian Marsh; her devoted goddaughter and niece, Jacqueline Roddey Caldwell, her husband, Melvin Drayton Caldwell Jr., and their children. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Rosa was part of a large and loving family and was a cherished aunt to many. Rosa will be remembered for her strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. Rosa was truly loved. Her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
