Rosetta Francis Eaves Kinard transitioned into the loving arms of our Lord on April 23, 2025. Born on April 18, 1940 in Pulaski, Virginia to Preston Eaves and Ardealear Geneal Montgomery Eaves, she was lovingly referred to as “Baby Sis” by her sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.
She married Joseph B. Kinard in 1972 in Charlotte, NC and they were married for 47 years until his passing in 2018. She took joy in being a homemaker and step-mother to his five boys. And she dedicated a great deal of care to her mother-in-law, Connie Martin Kinard, until her passing in 1987. She did for those she loved with an open heart and a willingness to support - and always in a matching ensemble for the occasion.
She took much pride in her household, the way she represented her household and the achievement and dedication of married life. The first 5 years of marriage brought the joy and opportunity to be a grandmother and she took every moment to maximize the happiness that she experienced with the children in her life - her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was never a time that she wasn’t there or she didn’t have a thoughtful gesture towards the people she loved and to those who were in need. Every life that she loved was important and it was worth documenting through pictures and words and precious memories.
Over the course of her life, she carried the word of God close to her heart and embraced opportunities to give back as part of her regular practice of the gospel. She was a faithful and loyal servant. She and her husband were dedicated to acts of service to their church, various communities and their neighborhood. She joined the Freemason order in 1978. She was a founding volunteer member of Crisis Assistance in Charlotte dedicating many hours weekly to helping those in need. She became a Deaconess at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church and carried her faithful work in service to the church to First Baptist Church which became her last church home.
In her later years, she enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center where she had lifelong friends. She was a light for those around her. Her love was limitless. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.
Her passing was preceded by her parents, sister Gertrude Eaves, brother James Eaves, sister-in-law Rose Eaves, brother-in-law Herman Ellis, brother-in-law Nathaniel Miller, brother-in-law MacArthur Mackey, stepson Kenneth Kinard, stepson Joseph B. Kinard Jr, daughter-in-law Mary Kinard, and grandson Ellison Kinard. She is survived by sister Virginia Ellis, sister Gladys Mackey, sister Persella Miller, stepson Timothy Kinard, daughter-in-law Cheryl Kinard, stepson Steven Kinard (Patricia), stepson Darryl Kinard (Tyann), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the Reverend Mildred McCullough who served as her loving caretaker and close friend for the last four years of her life journey. Family and friends will continue to cherish all of the memories of a life lived with purpose and love and we call her Rose.
