Ruth Harriet Winters, age 95, peacefully transitioned on June 2,2024 at Atrium Health University Hospital, Charlotte, NC. Upon her last admittance into the Atrium Health Hospital, the doctors projected her demise to only 48 hours to live however Jehovah God continued her journey with us for another two weeks.
Ruth was born September 6, 1926, in NY, New York to the late Walter Waller Winters and Ruth Winters of New York City.
Ruth remained a proud resident of NYC until 2021 where health required to move in with her daughter Rene for support and care in aging. Ruth gave birth to four beautiful children: Gerald Butler, Renee Winters Edwards, Michael Winters, and Mark Winters.
Ruth’s passing was proceeded by her eldest son Gerald Butler, who served in the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War and Michael Winters of NYC, a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness succumbed in death in 2017 after a long health battle.
Ruth’s remaining family will continue to celebrate her life lessons and generational love and remembered forever for the same are Rene Edwards and husband Douglas Edwards Sr of Charlotte, NC, children Nicole Edwards of NYC, Ida Edwards and partner Antonio and baby Isyis Winter Blakeney of the home in Charlotte, NC and Douglas Edwards Jr, wife Aniya and baby Nova Edwards of Charlotte, NC, Finally Son Mark Winters also of NYC continues residence and carrying the torch in the long established NYC footprint of the Winters family history.

Beloved Ruth, you are truly an inspiration and your strength and resilience throughout the entire duration of your life is admirable. you possess a beautiful and radiant spirit and will forever be a constant reminder of our families’ generational blessings… longevity of life, strength, resilience, faith, love, and beauty.
