On Wednesday, May 6th, 2020, God called home an amazingly wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend! Shannon was born May 6th, 1983 to Georgiann Watkins and George Banks in Buffalo, NY. She was the youngest of 3 kids and shared a caring relationship with her older brother and sister. Shannon attended City Honors School where she earned her high school diploma. After high school, she chose to further her education and enrolled in The University of South Carolina. After some time there, she decided to transfer to Xavier University. There was something about the city of New Orleans that she loved. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in General Science at the University of New Orleans. During her years there she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated . It was during this time that she created fond memories and lifelong friends.
Shannon’s desire to learn didn't stop there. Next she decided to enroll at Our Lady of the Lake College, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she earned an Associates Degree in Nursing. Shannon worked in several fields during her career. She was determined to find her passion! Soon she realized that she loved real estate, She was an easy going person who loved to meet new people which proved to be helpful in her career. Shannon found her place working as a leasing consultant. Little did she know that making this career choice would lead her to the love of her life!
Shannon was working in her leasing office when a handsome man came in to pick up a package. When Chris walked in and saw Shannon he new he had to come back to talk to her. Several deliveries later and a lot of money well spent , Chris finally asked Shannon out! They went out on their first date on July 18th, 2015. From that moment on they were inseparable.
One year later, Chris decided it was time! He took Shannon on a date to the same restaurant and sat in the same booth they had sat in just one year prior. Chris proposed to Shannon on July 16, 2016, she said yes and their hopelessly romantic story began. Their love was like no other and people often described them as the perfect match. The love they shared was genuine. They laughed together, cried together, finished each others sentences and jokes! Chris and Shannon’s love was a true gift from God!
On April 30th, 2017, in the presence of close family and friends the two became united Mr. and Mrs. Christo-pher Abdullah! The love they shared was undeniably, beautiful! Married life began, and they were fully on board for the duration of life together! There was no HE without SHE, and There was no SHE without HE! Chris was Shannon’s life! Chris and Shannon made people look at love from a new perspective. For it was so easily obtained by the two!
Shannon was the entertainer, the planner of events, the hostess with the mostest! She enjoyed time with family and friends. Last Thanksgiving, Shannon and Chris hosted dinner for family and friends for the first time in their new home. She was very excited to build these types of traditions. She could have truly been named ’The Most Hospitable person ever’! She did it with ease and grace and made everyone feel right at home.
Shannon’s hobbies included traveling the world with her husband. The itinerary always planned and all research complete! Next destination FUN! Shannon and Chris truly enjoyed each other and took every opportunity to connect. Date nights were a must for Shannon, and to keep that glowing smile on her face, Chris never denied it. Other things she enjoyed were cooking, home decorating, and her baking skills were good enough for a recipe to be stamped! Shannon had a distinct laugh she carried with her, it was contagious! Along with such a warm and
vibrant smile, Shannon was full of life, full of joy and happiness, and with her husband beside her, nothing else mattered.
Shannon is loved and will truly be missed . She will forever be remembered by her loving husband Chris, her mother Georgiann, her sister Tamika, brother Jerome, mother-in-laws Gloria and Novella, father-in-law Amir, sister-in-laws Natasha, Amira, Latasha, brother-in-laws Frank and Cole, many Aunts and Uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends. Shannon’s loved ones, who preceded her in death her father, George Banks Jr, grandmothers, Anna Mae Watkins and Vista Ashe, grandfathers, George Watkins and George Banks Sr.
