Shirley J. Hailey

Shirley Jean Hailey (nee Pratt) took the Lord's hand and returned home on December 26th, 2024, at the age of 71. Shirley was born on April 5th, 1953, the 4th child and first girl, to the late Fred and Effie Pratt and was raised in Lilesville, NC, graduating from Bowman Senior High School.

Shirley married her husband of 52 years, Dennis W. Hailey in 1972 and together they raised two wonderful children in Charlotte, NC. Shirley was a strong, quiet, and thoughtful woman who was always available for anyone in need. She instilled in her children the importance of empathy and care for others. Her sweet spirit will be surely missed.

Shirley was preceded in death by both parents and an older brother, John Pratt. She is survived by her husband and children Selena D. Hailey of Charlotte, NC, and William A. Hailey (Sybil) of Level Plains, AL, and grandchildren Aryanna, William, and Anala. Shirley is also survived by two brothers Edward Pratt of High Point, NC and Leon Pratt of Polkton, NC and one sister Blondell Turner (Wilfred) of Norwood, NC. Also missing Shirley are many loving brother and sister in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, and service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately at York Memorial Park - 5150 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28217.
