Spurgeon Martin, Sr.

Mr. Spurgeon Martin, age 92 of Lincolnton, Georgia, entered eternal rest peacefully at nursing home Peaks Resources Charlotte on Friday, January 29, 2021. Spurgeon was born on September 28, 1928 to the late Henry and Maggie Leverett Martin in Lincolnton, Georgia. He married Dorothy Nix on September 12, 1953. He was devoted to taking care of his family and was a good provider. Spurgeon had a career as a truck driver for over 40 years with different trucking companies but retired from ABF Freight. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Martin, siblings Selina Martin Bennett, David Martin, and Willie Lee Hill. Spurgeon’s life will continue to be celebrated by his family. The family includes Seven daughters: Patricia Johnson, Wanda (Charles) McConico, Diane Martin, Jacqueline (Conrad) Mason, Angela Martin, Yvette Martin, and Patricia (James) Lane; Two Sons: Spurgeon Martin Jr. and Aundray (Robin) Martin. 5 surviving grandsons and 1 preceded grandson, 4 granddaughters, 14 great-grandchildren, siblings, Roosevelt (Gloria) Martin, Onnie Flemings, Rubistine (Robert) Neely, Ernestine Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
