Stanley Ray Harris

September 28, 1955 — October 14, 2023

Stan Harris found peace on October 14, 2023. Succumbing peacefully to front temporal dementia, Stan fought valiantly to the end. Stan led a turbulent and interesting life. From a city of Charlotte building inspector to a landlord, Stan enjoyed owning dogs, football, running and building many things. A favorite was dog houses. An aficionado of old trucks; Stan had an eye for a cool jalopy like “Green Bean.” A stakeholder in Plaza Midwood, Stan loved the original Penguin and catching up with neighbors there. He left behind many friends in the neighborhood. Stan leaves behind his daughter Ali. Stan and Ali loved playing hall ball which was indoor dodge ball. Stan taught Ali poker at a young age and she was accomplished beating Dad in many tournaments. Ali loved riding in the back of Stan’s pickup trucks around Plaza Midwood urging him to drive as fast as possible. Stan also leaves behind his life partner Stephanie Donnis who persevered through thick and thin at his side. The family thanks caregivers, Sade, Angel, Miss Cocoa and Claire. A huge heartfelt thanks to Tora Hood who drove from Lancaster, SC Monday-Friday for a year to give Stan what must be recognized as superlative care. To those who blessed Stan with their presence at his graveside, thank you! Plaza Midwood has a community like no other. Brothers Mike and Perry Harris lost their baby brother and we hope memories hold them steadfast. Lastly, thank you Alexander Funeral Home, in particular Mr. Alfred Alexander for your assistance and brevity at this time. Special thanks to Pastor John Cleghorn for a service of beauty, peace, reassurance and love.
