Sugar Love

Carol D. McKinley, also “Sugar Love” left this world for the next on August 6, 2013. Despite suffering from the last five years, “Sugar” remained a beautiful and cheerful person. She had a heart of gold, and had the ability to extend herself to others. Sugar enjoyed making people laugh, feel special and telling stories to enhance whatever was being said. She was full of life and never a dull moment. Sugar was born on September 22, 1961 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended public school in Charlotte and achieved her diploma at West Charlotte High School in 1979. After high school she attended Johnson C. Smith for a short period of time. She spent her time enjoying the simple things in life such as watching the “Andy Griffin Show” and over feeding her beloved dog Chelsea. Chelsea often had ice cream just as much as Sugar and they spent many lazy afternoons together. She also enjoyed collecting angels just like her dad, who predeceased her in February 2002. Sugar worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 20 years. She worked as a window clerk, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with new and old customers. They loved the warmth and fellowship she provided when they walked into the local Post Office doors. Her many friendships and bonds depicted her personality. It was these types of bonds that abled her to be blessed with the ability to influence people’s lives. Left to cherish the memories of her are her mother Loupe McKinley; two sister, Connie Burrough (Willie) and Constance McKinley; one brother, Clement McKinley; two aunts, Mary Campbell and Virgia McKinley; two uncles, Joe Kinard (Rose) and Noble McKinley, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. At her request, Carol asked to not have a service on her behalf; instead she would like for family and friends to remember her as she was, and to cherish the memories they share with her. At this tough time, the family would like to thank everyone for being a part of Carol’s life. We also would like to thank the Charlotte - Mecklenburg Police Department, as well as Fire Department #18, and medics that reported to her home on that day. Much appreciation goes to Keith Kendrick, who was there for our family in our time of despair. Carol was and will continue to be anything but ordinary, and with that she will live forever in the hearts of everyone she knew and loved. Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
