Tamara G. Wilson

October 4, 1967 — March 21, 2024

Ms. Tamara Wilson departed this earthly life on March 21, 2024, after 56 years of purposeful living. Born on October 4, 1967, in Statesville, North Carolina, Ms. Wilson was raised in Charlotte and graduated from Independence High School. Her education continued with her attendance at Oral Roberts University.

Tamara was committed, dedicated, reliable, and faithful. She loved the Lord and took her involvement in ministry seriously while serving and being of service to many people. She especially loved supporting the youth and found her passion in helping the younger generation excel in all things through their love of the Lord. All who knew Tamara recognized her as an inspiration through her pleasant demeanor, listening manner, and always supportive discussions. She loved many things, such as sports, basketball, and running track in high school and college. Tamara loved to model and participate in fashion shows and was a lovely standout among the models. She also loved working with numbers and worked in accounting throughout her career.

Tamara played a central role in her siblings' upbringing, demonstrated brilliantly through her patience, love, and kindness to her sister and brothers. She absolutely adored them and was proud to talk about their accomplishments. Tamara constantly reminded them they were central to her prayers for their safety and success. She cherished her goddaughter, Lisa Marie, who loved and cared for her, especially when she became ill. Tamara embraced Lisa Marie as her daughter.

Tamara's faith journey began at Victory Christian Center, where she served most of her young adult life. She later joined New Bethel Church of God in Christ (Bishop Tommie Allen Murphy), where she served the Lord and the church community for almost 14 years. She served faithfully and tirelessly in several ministries, including the Pastor's Aide, Choir, Praise Team, Women of Destiny, Altar Work Team (Leader), and Partners in Christ Mentorship Program. Tamara was a woman of God and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was saved at an early age and loved attending church and being active in ministry. Tamara always walked in forgiveness and wanted nothing more than to be at peace.

Tamara always honored her mother and father through her unwavering respect and love. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Tamara leaves many family and friends who will cherish and remember her love, kindness, and grace. Tamara had a beautiful smile that would brighten anyone’s day. She is survived by two loving parents: her mother, Brenda Joyce Wilson, and her father, Billy Ray Wilson (Katie). Her close loved ones include brothers Billy Ray Wilson Jr. (Liza), Rodney O’Neil Wilson (Jennifer), and Gregory Wilson; her sister Jackie Robinette Griffith (Griff); nieces Jacqueline and Kiara (Tommy); nephews Elijah, Gabriel, Rodney Jr., Donovan, Jaylen, and Isaiah: goddaughter Lisa Marie Gray; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, cherished friends, and colleagues. Tamara had a special bond with her Auntie Debra, Pastor Murphy, Pastor Murphy's family, and her long-time friend, Jordan.
