Tami Darlene Snipe was born February 10, 1961, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Samuel W. Snipe and Margaret Talps Snipe. She was the fifth of six children and was educated in the Charleston County public schools. Tami graduated from Middleton High School in 1979 and continued her education at Wilberforce College in Ohio, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1984. Tami was reared as a Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age. As a youth, Tami was a member of New Francis Brown United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Youth Choir, Youth Usher Board, and the Methodist Youth Foundation. Tami was an avid and outstanding member of the girls' basketball team and team captain in high school. Tami lived in Columbia, South Carolina, before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1989. She aligned herself as a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she served as a member and Vice President of the Missionary Board and taught New Members Class for several years. Tami worked as a sales manager, elementary school teacher, summer camp counselor for special needs children, also assistant and sales manager for Holiday Inn for several years before being employed as a Loan Processor for the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) in 2009. During her time at NACA, she was known for her happy, positive, and upbeat spirit. Many felt that her presence was contagious and looked up to her as a mental, spiritual, and professional mentor. Tami had two mantras. The first was always to treat others the way you want to be treated, and the second was to thine own self be true. She maintained a lively and loving countenance and lived by the words of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud...). Tami always had a kind word for others, and her objective was to make others laugh, chuckle, or smile. She also was known for her giving and service spirit, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, Day of Caring: Charlotte, participating in disease awareness walks, and other activities through the years. It made one happy to be in her presence or to share her conversation. She loved family, politics, and sports. In 1993, Tami was blessed with a daughter, Chandler. Their bond was unique and, honestly, the definition of doing life together. As God is the giver of life, He called his servant to her eternal home on December 13, 2020 She leaves a legacy of faith, love, and memories to be cherished by her daughter, Chandler, God-grandson, Taylan Lawrence of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Carmanita Rollerson of Jacksonville, FL and Monique McMillan of Charleston, SC; three brothers, Maurice (Valerie) Snipe of Rochester, NY, Darryl (Donna) Snipe of Charleston and Sheldon (Kim) Snipe of Smyrna, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
