Telva A. Richburg

Telva Angelica Richburg, a beloved mother, grandmother, and mentor passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 at the age 79, surrounded by love and loved ones.  She fought a valiant battle against cancer, a true display of the poise, courage, and resilience that she maintained throughout her life.

Born April 26, 1946 in Panama City, Panama, Telva lived a life full of adventure, grace, laughter, and joy. She was the daughter of Julio and Hannah Gordon and knew how to fill a room with love and comfort from a young age. Whether through her warm hugs, gentle kisses, or her words of wisdom, Telva was always a positive and enlightening spirit to all of those around her.

To know Telva was to know compassion and curiosity to the world around you. With an understanding heart and a passionate mind, there was always so much to learn from her. She had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories that will be treasured forever. She was a positive role model to everyone around her and within her reach. Her loving presence will continue to be with us all.

Telva was a beloved teacher and coach whose impact extended far beyond the classroom. She was a guiding light to many by encouraging students to dream boldly, work hard, and believe in themselves.  Her influence reached well beyond academics, touching lives with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering support.

She was also a matriarch to her family in which she was the glue that held the family bonds tight. Telva is survived by her husband Orin, her two children, Julio and Sonya, her two grandchildren Elisa and Amalia, her brothers Alex Gordon and James (Jimmy) Gordon, and a loving host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was a loving person who made the lives of others better with just a smile. Telva will be missed dearly by all who have crossed paths with her, but her love will never fade from their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation (www.tnbcfoundation.org) be made in her memory.
