Terrance Eugene Ellerbe

Terrance Eugene Ellerbe was born January 28, 1973 to a young and in love couple, Jeffrey Kenneth Ellerbe and Carrie LaVerne Henry. They later united in Holy Matrimony on June 4, 1977. While his mother LaVerne, pursued her college degree, and his father Jeffrey began a career in the Air Force he spent a great deal of time with Grandma “Sis,” his paternal great grandmother. He loved her so much.Terry enjoyed being an only child for years, making lifelong friends while participating in flag football and playing in the neighborhood. In 1983, he welcomed his baby sister, Tyesha. You could often find him with his little sister proudly in tow, protecting her for the rest of his life.Terry became a member of Greater Providence Baptist Church at an early age. He actively participated as a youth usher and in the youth ministry, setting a firm foundation and love for Jesus Christ. He remained a man of strong faith, believing God for strength and guidance.Terry is a graduate of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, attending Tryon Hills Elementary, Hawthorne Traditional Junior High and Garinger High School.His attention to detail became his career, he enjoyed making the fine details count and his customers’ cars shine.Outgoing and extremely intelligent, Terry never met a stranger, but often retreated for some personal time, to write his many lines of poetic prose. Deep thinking was a favorite past time, while thinking, his passion for listening to his favorite music blossomed. Many enjoyed his encouraging and thought provoking Facebook posts that he poetically signed Mr. Ellerbe. As a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, you could always find him ready to watch his team on the field.As a proud father, his resourcefulness and energy went to loving and caring for his children.Terry is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Rev. Aaron and Mrs. Hattie Stanback, paternal great grandparents Sonny and Pearlie “Sis” Ellerbe, his maternal grandmother Doris Henry, paternal grandparents, Hubert and Eloise Ellerbe.On December 7th, 2019 after a valiant fight, Terry peacefully went on to be with the Lord, leaving behind his heart of gold.He leaves to love him forever his parents, Jeffrey Ellerbe and LaVerne Ellerbe, longtime girlfriend Gloria Hicklen, brother Kevin Steele and devoted baby sister Tyesha Ellerbe. Four fantastic children, Justin Tennyson, Deja Ellerbe, Terrance Ellerbe Jr. and Treasure Ellerbe. A host of supportive aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will also cherish their memories of our dear Terry.
