Thomas Porter Caldwell

Thomas Porter Caldwell Mr. Caldwell, 66 passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2015 at home with family by his side. Thomas was born on January 23, 1949 to Mattie P. Caldwell and the late Melvin Caldwell, Jr. He attended Second Ward High School, Charlotte and is a graduate of Shaw University, Raleigh, N.C. Shortly, thereafter moved to Newark, N. J. where he worked for the New Jersey State Department of Labor, before retiring as Assistant Director of the Division of Program and Service for N.J. State Department of Labor. Thomas is the Most Worshipful Past Grand Master, MWPHGL of New Jersey. Thomas is survived by his wife of 38 years, Glenda Dodd Caldwell, Daughter, Dr. Melody Caldwell (Manualwel Terrell) Hackensack, N. J., mother, Mrs. Mattie P. Caldwell, Brother, Willard Caldwell; Sisters-Carolyn C. Gibson(Joseph- deceased), Marilyn McClain (Patrick), Anita Mobley, Kenna Richardson (Gregory), all of Charlotte and Doris C. Reed (Stanley) of Huntersville. Family visitation will be Monday, April 6, 2015, 6:00 pm-9:00pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church 2020 West Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte, N. C. 28262. Ritualistic services will begin at 7:00 pm. A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 11:00 am at Ebenezer Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church Scholarship Fund. Alexander Funeral Home is serving the Caldwell Family
