Thornton B. Haynes, Sr.

Thornton Baker Haynes, Sr, (fondly known as TB) of Charlotte, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at his residence. Born in Charlotte, NC, September 3, 1929 to Ethel and Theodore Haynes. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, Mamie Blake, brother, Theodore, nephew, Christopher, and wife of 34 years, Geraldine Bartley Haynes. He is survived by his sister, Mary Alyce Smith, five children: Thornton B. Haynes, Jr., Charlese Frazier, Christine Haynes, Benita Bivens (Nathaniel), and Stephanie Haynes; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one nephew, two great nieces, and one great nephew. Home-going Service will be Monday, January 27th at 12 noon with viewing from 11am-noon at Greater Bethel AME Church, 5232 The Plaza. Interment will be in Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral Home.
