Titus "Ray" Ray Jones

September 7, 1965 — April 16, 2022

In Loving Memory

Titus “Ray” Jones was born in Paterson, New Jersey on September 7th, 1965. He was the son of the late Evelyn and James Jones. Ray and family resided in Gastonia, North Carolina and was called to rest on Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Ray was a high school graduate of John F. Kennedy High School (Knights) in Paterson, New Jersey. He also spent his early years at Eastside Highschool (Ghosts) in Paterson, New Jersey. He was a member of No Walls Ministry in Charlotte, North Carolina and was in practice to become a Deacon under the leadership of Bishop Steve Carlton Sr. He was the third of five children, the middle child and the baby boy (a mommy’s boy). He also shared a birthday with two of his siblings.

Ray enlisted in the army and served from 1983 - 1987.  He received several decorations and medals for his service.  During his last duty assignment, he served in the 5 th BN 68 th Armor USAREUR E5 in Mannheim, Germany.  Following his departure from the armed forces, he reconnected with his lifelong sweetheart, Tina. A true love story, Ray and Tina met in kindergarten in 1971 at School 10, dated in first grade, officially started dating in1992 and married in 2002. They have three children, Rayvon, Quadedria and Rahlique. In 1999, the family relocated from Paterson, New Jersey to Charlotte, North Carolina. Ray traveled on a bus with his wife, three children and $100 to his name.  His dedication and sense of responsibility was undisputable from the beginning and propelled him into a loving and devoted father and family man.

He worked in the steel industry for 22 years.  Through hard work and dedication, Ray was recently promoted to service supervisor/manager with Pennsylvania Steel Distributor Company.  He was excited about this new opportunity and was poised to lead.  One of his favorite pastimes was cheering on the Dallas Cowboys during football season.  He was a committed fan of the Cowboys and was excited to inform everyone. Ray had a great sense of humor that was infectious and those who were fortunate to know him appreciated his endearing ways. He was a caring and compassionate person and kept in touch with family, extended family and friends on a regular basis.  He was proud his children’s accomplishments and always shared fun stories about each of them-including his only daughter who graduated from college with honors and is currently a Software Engineer. His memory was sharp as he reminisced and shared childhood stories about his mother, sisters and brother on an almost daily basis. Ray also provided a great deal of emotional support to his siblings during the recent passing of their mother in February 2022.  To know Ray is to know his pet Sasha , the honorary fourth child, who he spoiled rotten. Sasha will miss him a great deal.

He is predeceased by the recent passing of his beloved mother, Evelyn Jones, father James Harold Jones, and older brother James Jones.  His life and memories will be cherished by his wife, Tina Jones, three children, Rayvon Nashville (Genita) Charlotte, North Carolina, Rahlique Jones of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Quadedria Jones of Fairfax, Virginia.  Grandchildren, Rayvon Jr, Elijah, and Micah. Three sisters, Sarita Bethea (John) of Pinson, Alabama, Starlet Jones of Greensboro, North Carolina and Dr. Selette Jemison (Mark) of Bloomfield, Connecticut, God Sister, Miesha Samuels and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Thank you all for your support during this difficult time.
