Towana Angelia Wright (affectionately known as Tia) was born August 7, 1976 to John and Linda Wright. John and Linda would divorce and Linda would go on to marry James Thompson, who would raise Tia as if he was her own. Tia attended public schools in Union County where she would graduate from Parkwood High School in 1994.
Tia gave her life to Christ at a young age and would go on to join Thompson Chapel AME Zion where she became an active member of the choir.
Tia had a passion for children and devoted her whole life to teaching young children. At the time of her passing, Tia was employed at Field of Dreams Nurture and Educational Center where she made a great impact on the lives of her students and her co-workers.
Tia leaves behind her parents James and Linda Thompson (Waxhaw, NC), two sisters Ashley Covington (Monroe, NC) and Cori Wright Barnett (Waxhaw, NC), one brother Kris Covington, (Ala), three sons Sabin Kilgo (Granite Falls, NC), Canaan Terpstra (Newton, IA) and Lathan Swanson of the home and three daughters, Kynnedei (Newton, IA), Addisyn Terspstra (Newton, IA) and Eden Covington (Monroe, NC).
She also leaves behind two granddaughters, three nephews and a host of family and friends.
