Urhonda Vaniele Phillips, affectionally known as “Ro” was born June 21, 1977 in Charlotte, NC to Brian Davis and Joyce Phillips, both of Charlotte, NC. She transitioned to her heavenly home on May 3, 2025 in Riverdale Georgia.
Urhonda attended Charlotte Mecklenburg School, Victory Christian Center School and graduated from Central Piedmont Community in Charlotte, NC. She was united in marriage to Duayne Williamson and from that union, she had two children, Jazziah and Mazzani. She also was married to Ronnie Crawford and from this union, she had two children, Jahmee and Sameea.
Throughout Urhonda’s life, singing was her passion and was a way for her to express her personality and talents to others. As a young child she loved singing in church or anywhere or anytime music played, she would be right there humming or singing the lyrics. She gave her life to Christ at a young age while attending Faith Soldiers Word Ministry and continued attendance throughout her adult life. She was also a member of Macedonia Church of Charlotte, where she used her angelic voice on the choir. She continued singing into her adulthood often singing with her cousins, daughter Mazzani and friends. She was affectionally known as “Ro Phill” in her musical and community circle of friends and started Stepping Stone Productions, LLC. But more than anything, she was a devoted and beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. She liked to spend time with her children, grandchildren, cousins, her Aunt Lynn, her sisters, friends and was always ready for a road trip.
Urhonda was a person who loved much and left a mark wherever she went with her beautiful voice and personality. “Momma, even though I do the things I do, I want you to know that I have a relationship with God, I talked with Him everyday and night before I go bed.”
Urhonda was preceded in death by her sister, Melinda Bethea, her paternal grandmother, Lucille Johnson and her maternal grandfather, Reverend James Andrew Phillips.
