Vernell Dye was born August 18th 1944 to Howard H. Grier , Sr and Katie Stewart Grier in Portsmouth, Virginia. She entered into eternity on June 12th 2018 at Aldersgate Hospice Care. Vernell graduated from York Road High School as a “Wapiti” within the CMS system in 1962. She went on to attend CPCC attaining a nursing degree. Her first nursing employment was at Good Samaritan Hospital where the Carolina Panthers stadium now stands. Afterwards she worked at many nursing home facilities where she was always recognized as an awesome outstanding and efficient nurse. Vernell was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Howard H. Grier Jr, Charles Grier and Harold Grier “Bucky”. She leaves to cherish fond memories of her life: a most loving husband James P. Dye to custodial grandsons and their brother, affectionately known as Papa and Grandma's Boy's; DheOhmei, Larry and Kendale Foxx, One sister, Jessica Bernita Grier Barnwell, one aunt, Patricia McGill Jackson (Dale), nephews, Almon Angell Barnwell III, H. Lamart Grier (Yvette), Timothy Grier, Christopher, Chad and John Frazier, neices: Lasandra Jant, Felicia Woods (Greg), Ashley Frazier (Cory Sutton), Ericka Grier, Jatana, Brothers-In-Law: Charles Dye (Deborah), William Dye, two special friends: Joan McKnight Jackson and Rosetta Coleman, and many other family members and friends.
