Veronica Odessa Flowers

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, Veronica Odessa Flowers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and Aunt, went home to be with the Lord.
She was 79 years old Born September 9, 1943 to Walter and Elizabeth Standard (Richburg) in Washington DC. She had two brothers and two sisters. George Standard (Deceased) ,Richard Standard (Deceased ), Vera Standard (Deceased)and lastly Vernita Couliette. She graduated from Ballou High School in 1961.
She started her career in retail when her and her husband decided to relocate to Charlotte, NC in 1978. Her favorite job was when she began working for Belk Stores uptown Charlotte. In addition, her career expanded to owning her own business as a seamstress. She had a reputable clientele not only in Charlotte, NC but also in Upper Marlboro, MD as well. Raising a family in Charlotte, NC she was dedicated to teaching the young girls in Roseland Apartments and the senior center how to crochet, which some young ladies today still talk about.
She was very active in church singing soprano at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC and the Colston Memorial Choir at The Sanctuary of Kingdom Square (Formally Glendale Baptist) In Capitol Heights, MD.
Even though she was born and raised in the North, her cooking skills had Southern written all over it. She loved her family tremendously and has left a plethora of memories from dancing with the door knob and her children around the house.
She will be most remembered by her soft-Spoken voice and loving nature who’s smile would always light up a room.
She has now reunited with her husband( Since August 2, 1964) Odell Flowers in Heaven. A love that will last forever.
She leaves behind a son, Pastor Michael Flowers (Angelita) and daughter Victoria Flowers. Grandchildren, Michael David Flowers, Jamar Flowers, Shequia, William Gamble, De’Erica Brown, Antonio Adams, and Ayrianna Flowers. She leaves 4 great-grandchildren Brailyn, Hassani, Malashia and Gabriel. She also leaves behind her loving baby sister Vernita Couliette (Paul), a host of nieces and nephews and several sons and daughters she’s claimed over the years.
