Walter Mitchell Jackson, Jr., son of the late Walter Mitchell Jackson, Sr., and Marguerite H. Scott Jackson, was born on March 2, 1951 in Drew, Mississippi. He soon moved to Detroit, MI, where he made the town his home. Walter was an excellent student and earned his diploma within the Detroit Public School system, attending Southeastern High School. While at Southeastern, he maintained an A average while participating in track, football, and basketball. He was a star athlete, earning All-City and All-State accolades. He continued his love of football and basketball by accepting a full ride athletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska. His military career lasted from 1971 to 1973. After he completed his tour with the United States Army, he decided to move to North Carolina to be closer to his big brother, William. After that, Walter was never far from his big brother. Not long after becoming settled in North Carolina, he met the love of his life, Camilla Williams, and married soon after. Walter and Camilla lovingly blended their families, and later welcomed three more children. Walter had many loves and hobbies. He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend his free time at any pond he could find. In competition with his love of fishing was his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He always loved to give back by volunteering his time as a poll worker in various elections, and was a tax preparer during tax season. He loved to coach sports and was a football coach with Eastway Church of God. Walter was always involved in church during his life, and served as an Alter worker at Eastway Church of God as an adult. Soon after purchasing his home with his lovely wife Camilla, Walter became a board member with his Homeowners Association. Walter was a hardworking man and always provided for his family. He retired from PCA International as a film processor. On December 16, 2020, Walter was peacefully resting in his lovely home, surrounded by his wife and daughters, when he was called to his eternal home. The family is at complete peace knowing that he is now, and forever will be, resting in the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Mitchell Jackson, Sr., and Marguerite Scott Jackson. What a day to behold when he saw Jesus and his mother and father! Walter leaves behind to cherish his memory: his lovely wife of 44 years, Camilla Williams Jackson; six children, Taleitha Williams (Quentiin), Kristal Jackson Black (Robert), Shakisha Coleman, Walter Mitchell Jackson, III, Tiffany M. Haley, LaWanda Alexander (Jeffrey), and Tina Truesdale (Goddaughter); eleven siblings, William Jackson (Dorothy), Gwendolyn Dupree-Pryor (Bishop Vincent), Mary Jackson, Vivian Jackson Wright (Nie), Anthony Jackson, Jacqueline Gueye (Alioune), Timothy Jackson (Sandy), Monica Jackson Bennett, Bryant Jackson (Veona), Yalanda Adams (Leon), and Gregory Jackson (Lynn); eighteen grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
