Wilbur Jean Jenkins, affectionately called Ma Jean by her grandchildren, went to heaven on Friday, June 5, 2020.Wilbur Jean was born on November 24, 1935, in Clinton, South Carolina, to the late Mamie Vance Fuller. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Smith, and great grandson, Tavorias Moore. At an early age, she joined Williams Tabernacle CME Church,now Parkwood Institutional CME Church, where she sang on the choir and later served on the Usher Board. Wilbur Jean attended Charlotte Mecklenburg County Schools and graduated from West Charlotte Senior High School.She was united in holy matrimony with Odis B. Jenkins. They remained together for 65 years. Wilbur Jean worked as a seamstress for Barnhardt Manufacturing for over 30 years. After retirement, she enjoyed working at the Niven Center where she was loved by all the clients and staff.Wilbur Jean was known for her sharp wit as she told you the truth that you needed to hear, and her generous spirit as she opened her home to several family and friends that needed a place to stay. She was tough but loving.Precious memories remain with those who loved her. Survivors include: her husband, Odis B. Jenkins; a daughter, Belinda J.Jenkins; grandson, Jimmie Wallace; granddaughter, Shalomba Jenkins; sister, Mamie F. Johnson; a lifetime friend, Barbara Henderson; great grandchildren, Telly Coleman, Michael Moore,JaQuan Williams, Jimmie Wallace, Jimmie Pearson, Jammiko Wallace, Yasmine Wallace, Jorias Wallace, Jakayla Wallace, five great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
