William Monroe Chaplin was born February 12, 1988, in Landover, MD, and transitioned on February 12, 2021. Affectionately known as "Scoop" and "Dollar Bill," William was lively and could light up a room with his booming voice and infectious laugh. William's large and loving personality could be felt by all he encountered, especially his family. The art of freestyle rap and the company of family are where William found joy. William was raised in the Clanton Park Community where he established root and developed lifelong friendships. William attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He enjoyed culinary arts and served as cook at BoneFish Grill. William is survived by his two children, Bradley Chad Roberts (son) and Krystina La'Saint Chaplin (daughter); Kim Chaplin (mother), Mekiba Ledbetter (sister), Melike Chaplin (brother), and Erica Forbes (grandmother)(David Forbes); a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family, and community. As we reflect on William's passing, there is a quote to consider as we remember, "When I come to the end of my journey and I travel my last weary mile Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned and remember only the smile." -M.L. Hancock Remember William's smile and the warmth of his tight hugs. In this moment of pain and uncertainty we give thanks for the life of William. We thank God that we knew him, that we loved him, and that we were loved by him.
