William Eugene Howard quietly slipped into his eternal rest on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at his home in Charlotte, NC. He was born to the late Luther & Mary (Foust) Howard on November 27, 1965, as the last born of eight children, and the youngest of five sons. William grew up in Charlotte’s West Boulevard and West Charlotte communities. He was the baby of the family, and yes, he was a little spoiled by his older siblings, especially by his late oldest sister Judy Howard Williams.
William attended Berean Parochial School in his earlier years under the tutelage of Celestine Hames. He was the only son to complete his secondary education. He was a member of the 1984 graduating class of West Charlotte High School, and later attended Central Piedmont Community College, receiving his certificate in auto mechanics in 2007. Always being a master of his craft, he was later asked to come back to teach the course. William was a member of Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was part of the Pathfinders in his younger years and played on the youth basketball teams.
Early in life, William had a natural talent for electronics. He spent hours fixing any device that played music. In fact, as a teenager, he would often deejay for community and family events. He loved all kinds of music, and his favorite of late was jazz. He enjoyed long afternoon rides in his cars and on his motorcycles with his music turned up with plenty of bass. He was often seen with the top down on his ‘always clean’, Red convertible Mustang, with his shades on and with the music blasting. You could always hear him coming for sure! He also loved to travel, including many trips to any location with clear blue water. Some of his favorites included Jamaica, Punta Cana and the Cayman Islands.
William was the father of four children, Marquita McCord, William E. Howard, Jr. (Krysta) of Rock Hill, SC, Steven S. Howard (Adrianna), of Charlotte, NC, and Desmond R. Adams of Fayetteville, NC. From his children he has twelve grandchildren - Jayla, Shaniya, Kaiden, Kendall, Steven Jr, Kalib, Aaliyah, Skylar, Kaysen, Angel, Noah, and Ariana.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters Carolyn Miller, Reba Foster, both of Charlotte, NC, Mary (Luis) Strong-Rodriguez of Grovetown, GA; Sister-in-law Ann Howard (late Jonathan Howard) of Charlotte, NC; and his longtime dedicated and supportive friend, Angelia Howard of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves his close friends and ‘brothers-from-other-mothers’, Glenn Blackmon, Deron Bone, Jerome Moe, George Boyd and Kip Llewellyn. He and Deron also had a professional relationship, in that William also work for Deron at RF DAS Systems, Incorporated. They have been close friends since the early1990s and considered themselves to be more like brothers. Deron has been a strong supporter of William and his family.
William also leaves his nephews: David (Mary), Shelton (Lywan), Floyd Jr., Benjamin Jr., Rodney, Adrian (Stephanie), Etienne, Wayne, Rashad, Michael (LaSheena), and Wesley (Donielle). He also leaves his nieces: Bethel, Trinace, Cabrenna (Rodney), Cynthia, Vivian, Enjoli (Khalid), Shay, Rasheena, Merjhana, Ianna, Tenia, Unique, and Cherish; and a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins, and friends that are considered to be like family.
