Ms. Willie Mae Jennings was born on March 31, 1926 in Gaffney, South Carolina. She was born to the late Will and Hattie Tate Smith. Ms. Willie Mae Jennings entered her season of eternal peace and rest on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Presbyterian Hospital.
Ms. Willie Mae received her education in York County, South Carolina. She was a domestic worker for over fifty years. She was also an Eastern Star in Naomi Chapter Number 7. Her passion was making flower arrangements, attending to her garden, and helping others in the community. Most of all, she was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to all.
Ms. Willie Mae was preceded in death; by husband Ed Jennings, one son James Smith, one sister Alberta Barber and one niece Hattie Pearl Kennedy.
She leaves to cherish her memories; four sons: Norman Smith (Daphne), Jerry Smith (Christine), Terry Smith (Delores), and Steven Smith; one daughter Joyce Smith (Wallace); twelve grandchildren: Cheri, Tyvone, Shadonna, Donnie, Davien, Olajuwon, Edward, Traneise, Normandy, Demarion, Aisha, and Anthony; twenty-eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews raised as her own: Willie, Levi, Morgan, Amy and Mary.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church at 2015 Kennesaw Drive Charlotte NC 28216 from 5pm to 7pm. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Mount Tabor Baptist Church at 4799 Wilkinsville Hwy Gaffney, SC 29340 at 1pm.
