Willie Lee McConnico was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph McConnico and the late Rosie Lee McConnico. Willie was born on July 6 1943, in Snow Hill, Alabama in Wilcox County.
She went to public school in Snow Hill and later relocated to Akron, Ohio where she graduated with a high school diploma. After returning to Alabama, Miss Willie gave birth to her oldest daughter, Wanda V. McConnico. Miss Willie relocated to New York to further her career. In 1969, she gave birth to her daughter Yvette McConnico (who preceded her mother's death February 4, 2023).
In 1978, Miss Willie was united in Holy Matrimony with Lawrence Paris Jr. who preceded her in death, June 10, 2004.
Miss Willie was a faithful and dedicated member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing with the “Voices of Mt. Herman” under the direction of Professor William H. Collins Jr. She was under the leadership of Reverend B.F. Jones and later Ben Willie Watkins.
Miss Willie was an avid baker. She baked specialty cakes for weddings and other events. Caramel cake was her most requested and if you tasted it, you know why.
Miss Willie worked for Coca Cola for many years until she became ill in 1988. Following the advice of her Dr., she relocated to North Carolina. Miss Willie enjoyed going to Temple Baptist Church.
In 2020, after becoming ill, her daughter Wanda joined her in North Carolina.
In 2021, Miss Willie and Wanda joined Pursuit Church under the leadership of Jordan Green and later under the leadership of Taylor Kale. Miss Willie enjoyed going to Bible Study and attending the Annual Women's Retreat. When she walked into the retreat, she brought smiles, hugs, and squeezes to everyone. You couldn't stay in a bad mood after an encounter with Willie!
Miss Willie departed this life on June 1 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Wanda V. McConnico-Mainer (Charles M. Mainer); bonus daughters, Kathryn Gallman, Renee Williams, Patricia Wheeler, Barbara Jean Brown, and Cathy Sparks; grandchildren, Sabrina Edwards, Chastity Edwards and Brittany Mainer. She also had a special relationship with her great grandchildren, Christina, Milani, Cori and Lyle; her brother Joseph Lee Walker, sister-in-law Ann Hudson; Auntie Mary Lee Cook, Auntie Dannie Mae Crenshaw. She had a special bond with first cousins Vida Thomas and Yvette Bryant; three Godsons, Jonathan, DuQuan, Javier, and a host of other relatives and friends.
