Our beloved "Papa" Willis Maxwell was born on August 1, 1928, in Toccoa, Georgia. Although a Southern man at heart, Willis traveled the world making Connecticut, Georgia and North Carolina his home. He also traveled oversees as an esteemed serviceman in the United States Airforce. There he received the WWII Victory and Japan Occupation Medal.
Although he had numerous accomplishments, his greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family. Mr. Maxwell is survived by his children Ruth Carter, Timothy Carraway, his baby (Lucille), Jennifer Brewer, Sylvia Davis, Emma Mayo (John), Jacqueline Johnson, Alfred Carter (Mildred), Lynette Carter, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
"Mack" found joy in the everyday pleasures such as bird watching, gardening, photography, or watching his favorite programs in his recliner accompanied by his favorite sweets. He also served as a Deacon at the Greater House of Life Community Fellowship Church pastored by William Chandler.
