Listen to Obituary

Xavion Jamal-Holmes Mahoney affectionately known as “Von” was born on

June 23, 2000, in Cleveland, OH to Rachele Holmes and Raynard Mahoney. He

peacefully departed this life on May 20, 2026, following a trucking accident

leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and purpose.

Von began his education in the Elyria Public School system before relocating to

Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Hopewell High School in Charlotte, in 2018,

where he formed lasting friendships, and continued to grow into a determined

young man so many came to know and love.

After graduation, Von pursued a path that reflected his independence and strong

work ethic. He earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and proudly joined

The Mahoney Group, the family’s trucking company. Driving was more than a job,

it was a source of pride, a connection to his family, and a testament to his

commitment to building a future. He embraced life on the road and carried himself

with dedication, responsibility, and resilience.

Von’s love for football began in his childhood and remained a central part of his life.

His passion for the game extended beyond playing into mentoring and coaching.

He was grateful for the opportunity to serve as a coach for the Stallions Youth

football team, where he inspired, and guided young athletes, leaving a lasting

impression on those he coached.

Von will be remembered for his kind heart, his infectious smile, and the way he

brought light into every room he entered. He had a unique spirit—one that blended

strength with compassion, humor with sincerity. He was a loyal son, a devoted

friend, and a constant source of encouragement to those around him. Von loved

deeply, lived fully, and left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Rachele Holmes and

Raynard Mahoney; his siblings, Rumeal Holmes, Xavier Mahoney (twin brother),

Kiara (Adrian) Carr, Darius Jackson, Terrell Jackson; and his cherished maternal

grandparents, Juanita and Lewis Beeman. He is also loved and remembered by a

host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, friends, teammates, and

the many young athletes he mentored.

Von was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Raynard Mahoney Jr. (“Lil

Ray”), his paternal grandparents Renee Taylor, Robert Mahoney III, and his aunt,

Racine Holmes.

Though his time here was far too short, Von’s legacy will continue to live on in the

hearts of those who loved him. His life reminds us to move with purpose, love

wholeheartedly, and never take a moment for granted.

“Forever in our hearts, always in our memories.”
