Yvonne Harris Jones

Yvonne Ansta Harris Jones, daughter of the late Julia Sylvia Harris was born June 10, 1954 in Charlotte, NC. She entered Gods eternal rest on November 6, 2017. Yvonne briefly attended West Charlotte High School and graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1972; where she received a full scholarship to attend Winston-Salem State University. While at Winton-Salem State University, she was active in the marching band and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Intermediate Education in 1976. Upon leaving WSSU, she became a teacher in the Monroe City School System where she taught for 7 years. She returned to Charlotte and earned her Masters of Education Degree from UNC-Charlotte in 1988. She became a teacher for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in 1983 where she taught for 25 years. Retiring in 2008, she decided to become a substitute for the CMS School System where she remained until her calling. Yvonne leaves to cherish her precious memories; her loving husband and a host of relatives.
