HOMEGOING for CELEBRATION
Charlie Stevenson Logan
Charlie Stevenson Logan “Steve” was born on June 14, 1942 in Rutherfordton, NC to the late James
Logan, Sr. and late Genoa Hill Logan. Steve departed this life peacefully at 2:34 PM on February 15,
2023 at Atrium Hospital, Charlotte, NC. He was surrounded by daughter, Zanetta Ann Warren,
grandson, Gregory Moore, and Son-in-Law, Nelson Warren along with family friends.
Steve loved the Lord as he was a lifelong member of ST. John A.M.E Zion. He enjoyed singing and traveling with the ST John Men’s choir. It was one of his greatest accomplishments. He also participated in other church roles as given by the pastor.
With the love for his family Steve took care of his mother until her death, he looked after his two sisters
as the male in the home they were his first concern.
As Steve was an active and playful child, his first love was sports; all kinds; basketball, football, tennis,
horse and car racing, golf, you name it. If it was on television on Sunday, after church, he would be
watching. If you knew Steve, you knew him as a stand-up comedian, a skilled piano player, and a great
friend and all-around good person. He attended Carver High School as well as Isothermal Community
College where he obtained his associate degree in business, both in Spindale, NC.
Steve was a long-time employee of Stonecutter Mills, Spindale, NC as a doffer. His dedicated service
spanned over 30 years until his retirement. After retiring from Stonecutter, he held positions as a
Human Resources Development Instructor at Isothermal Community College and as a Recruiter
Specialist at Job Link, Forest City, NC. He took great pride in his work roles and was grateful for each
opportunity and the people that helped him along the way.
With his love of music and performing. While staying at the Wilora Lake healthcare center he was part of the Sunday devotion after they learned he played the piano. Dad/Steve also played on special event days. Per the staff on Valentine's day at the afternoon program the staff stated Dad played a medley of songs everyone was singing and happy.
Steve leaves to cherish loving memories, one daughter, Zanetta Ann Warren (Nelson) of Charlotte, NC;
one son, Charles Moore (Kim) of Cullowhee, NC; six grandchildren, Gregory Moore of Charlotte, NC;
Samuel, Israel, Naomi, Anna, and Victoria Moore all of Cullowhee, NC; one brother, James Logan, Jr.
(Mary) of Reynoldsburg, OH; two sisters, Linda Ikard of Hickory, NC; Patricia (Henry) Jenkins of Durham, NC; and a loving companion, Kersilia Wiley of Forest City, NC.
The family extends special thanks to Wilora Lake Health Care Center, Charlotte, NC, Atrium Hospital ER
staff, Mrs. Doris Crute and the members of Saint John A.M.E. Zion Church.
To Dad from Ann: Dad, when you came to Charlotte in November 2020, both of our lives changed.
God always knows what is best. I missed the years of being your baby girl but in these years until your
death, He gave me the greatest responsibility of being your daughter and taking care of you.
