Roger Timothy Bratcher

September 26, 1953 — April 19, 2024

The season of Roger Timothy Bratcher began with the union of his father John
Bratcher Jr of Harrisburg, PA and his mother Naomi Genevieve Clark Bratcher of
Lynchburg VA. Roger was born in Washington DC, the 7th and youngest child of
John and Naomi. His parents visited his Great Aunt Julia Franklin Freeman and
his great Grandmother Bella Franklin Jackson Anderson (2.5 hrs. away in
Steelton PA) and were caught in blizzard. Roger was less than 5 months old so
they all decided it would be safer for Roger to stay that winter with his great
grandparents. Roger was a little “prince” in his older guardian’s home, they
were nurturing and caring and sometimes his feet never touched the ground.

Roger’s two older brothers and four sisters remained in Washington, DC and
visited with Roger every chance they could.

Roger was very intelligent and writing poetry was his passion. He graduated
from Steelton-Highspire High School in 1973 and made us all very proud.
Rogers’ season continued as he moved about the country from Harrisburg, Pa to
Los Angeles, CA. Roger used his passion for words or how to pen them to fit any
occasion. We are still very proud of our littlest brother.

He moved to Charlotte NC with his oldest brother John Everett in 2005 after our
mothers’ death; and remained there even after John’s death in 2008. He would
tell me he never wanted to leave Charlotte because the city and the people
suited him just fine. He met friends in programs like Roof Above and Innovative
Community Resources that made sure Roger had everything he needed to settle
in. They would even arrange to fly Roger to us whenever necessary. Roger often
told us how he loved his life in Charlotte. I’m sure there is a poem somewhere
dedicated to his favorite city.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents John and Naomi, as well as his
brothers John Everett Bratcher III (Charlotte NC) and Nathaniel Dwight Bratcher
(Lubbock TX), and a niece Tonya Bratcher (D.C.). He leaves to morn his passing
one Aunt: Lucile Bratcher (White Plaines, MD); four sisters: Lorette Marie
Bratcher Boone Peters (Dwane); Carol Jeanette Bratcher; Naomi Renee Bratcher
Keesee and Elsie Saundra Bratcher Carter Croxton. Sister-in-law: Dr. Debra
Lavender-Bratcher. Niece’s: Camille Boone, Chavelle Talley, LaTeasha Carter,
Chantini Hopkins(John), Mara Bratcher, Raquel Deas(Edwin). Nephews: John
Bratcher IV, Jackie Carter Jr (Maria), William M Keesee III (Ferray) and Grant E
Peters.

Roger also leaves a host of Grandnieces, Grandnephews, Great grands, Cousins,
and friends.

Rogers love was genuine and he will be missed!!
